New child and youth center opens in Sauve

A new child and youth center opened in Sauve in 2026, marking a significant achievement for Virginie Agniel, the vice-president of the Cévennes Piedmont intercommunal community responsible for early childhood and youth. The center is part of an expanded facility that includes additional space for early childhood services.

Center combines multiple services

The new building adds 100 square meters to an existing leisure center and includes a Relais petite enfance (RPE), a parent-child accommodation place (LAEP), and a leisure center, similar to one in Quissac. These services aim to provide a range of activities and support for children and families.

Focus on inclusion and sociabilization

Virginie Agniel highlighted the importance of leisure centers in helping children develop social skills and emphasized the commitment to offering an inclusive and caring environment. The new building includes a nap room and space for activities tailored to the youngest children.

Funding and contributions

The project, which cost 450,000 euros, received 89,000 euros from the CAF of the Gard and 90,000 euros from the Department. The mayor, Olivier Gaillard, praised the investment and noted the Department's contribution to the project.

Land use question raised

Olivier Gaillard also asked the president of the Cévennes Piedmont, Fabien Cruveiller, if there were plans to transform the rocky terrain opposite the leisure center into a parking lot, as half of the land belongs to the Gard Department.

Sustainable and noise-reducing design

The building, designed by Camille Étienne of Biom Architecture, features an elevated structure insulated with wood fiber, spruce cladding, and design elements intended to minimize noise disturbances.
