iPhone Duo shortage delays delivery

The iPhone Duo, which became available on October 23, is currently out of stock, with some resellers, including Apple itself, delaying deliveries until January 2027. This shortage has left many consumers waiting for the device, which is positioned as Apple's latest foldable smartphone.

Samsung's foldable available earlier

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been available in stores since August 7, making it a more accessible option for those interested in foldable phones. It is presented as a strong competitor to Apple's foldable, offering similar features at a significantly lower price.

Discount makes Fold 8 attractive

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is priced at 1,999 euros, but it currently enjoys a 640 euro discount on Joybuy, bringing the final price down to 1,359 euros. This discount may encourage buyers to consider the Fold 8 over the iPhone Duo, especially given the latter's delayed availability.

Passport format improves usability

The Fold 8's passport format, which is compact when folded and wide when unfolded, enhances its usability. When unfolded, it measures 123.9 x 161.4 mm, is 4.5 mm thick, and weighs 201 grams. The 5.5-inch external screen allows users to type messages or check apps without opening the phone.

High-quality internal screen

The Fold 8 features a 7.6-inch AMOLED internal screen with a 4:3 format, similar to a small tablet. It offers a resolution of 2,448 x 1,848 pixels and a pixel density of 403 ppi. Both the internal and external screens can reach up to 3,000 nits in peak brightness, ensuring readability even in full sunlight.

Performance and software features

Inside the Fold 8, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and its Adreno 840 GPU provide strong performance. The One UI 9 interface includes seven major Android updates and Samsung's AI functions, enhancing the user experience.

Camera and audio limitations

Despite its strengths, the Fold 8 has some limitations. It includes two 50-megapixel sensors but lacks a telephoto lens or a 200-megapixel sensor. The audio quality is also average for a device in this price range.
