Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 is available now with a major discount, offering a compelling alternative to Apple's delayed iPhone Duo.
iPhone Duo faces stock issues
The iPhone Duo, which became available on October 23, is currently out of stock, with delivery dates pushed back to January 2027, even at Apple's own stores. Samsung's foldable phone is available now
Samsung has been selling its Galaxy Z Fold 8 in stores since August 7, positioning it as a strong competitor to Apple's foldable phone, with a similar transparent effect when opened but at a significantly lower price. Price advantage of the Galaxy Z Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is currently available with a 654 euro discount on Amazon, bringing its price down to 1,345 euros, which is nearly 1,000 euros less than the iPhone Duo. The offer is available to Prime members, with a small additional cost for others. Features of the Galaxy Z Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a passport-like format, folding to a compact size and unfolding to a wide 7.6-inch AMOLED screen in a 4:3 format. It also includes a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a 5.5-inch external screen, and One UI 9 with seven major Android updates. Design and usability of the Galaxy Z Fold 8
When unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 measures 123.9 x 161.4 mm and weighs 201 g, with a 4.5 mm thickness. The external screen is large enough for typing and checking apps without opening the phone, and the internal screen supports switching between horizontal and vertical modes. Missing Flex Mode on the Galaxy Z Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 lacks Flex Mode, which would allow the phone to be used half-folded for video calls or videos. This is a notable absence compared to previous Fold models. Performance and software of the Galaxy Z Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and the One UI 9 interface, which includes Samsung's AI features. However, its camera setup is more modest, with two 50-megapixel sensors but no telephoto lens or 200-megapixel sensor. Battery and availability comparison
The iPhone Duo has a larger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but it depletes faster over time. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, on the other hand, is immediately available and comes with a strong promotional offer. More information on foldable phones
