At IFA 2026, DJI, a leading manufacturer of drones and robotics, unveiled two new products: the Romo 2 robot vacuum cleaner and the Osmo 360 II 360-degree action camera. These products represent the company's continued innovation in home automation and consumer electronics. The Romo 2 is an upgraded version of its previous model, featuring enhanced cleaning capabilities and advanced navigation technology. The Romo 2 achieves a suction power of 36,000 Pa on carpets, up from 25,000 Pa in the previous model. This increase allows for more effective cleaning of dirt and debris. The robot uses a laser rangefinder (LiDAR) to map its environment, enabling it to pivot on 123° to follow walls and reach up to 4.5 cm under furniture. Additionally, motorized legs allow the device to climb over obstacles such as a 4 cm step or two consecutive steps totaling 8.5 cm. The Romo 2's vision system is designed to detect small objects like 2 mm cables, recognize surfaces such as glass or mirrors, and differentiate between solid waste and liquids to adjust its cleaning behavior accordingly. DJI also introduced an improved self-cleaning platform that, according to the company, remains clean for up to 365 days without manual cleaning. A new feature called Local Data mode, expected to be available by the end of 2026, will allow users to disable the robot’s internet access, adding to the existing options of deactivating the camera and microphone. This feature comes in response to a security flaw discovered earlier this year that affected approximately 7,000 Romo devices. The Romo 2 will be available in two versions, A2 and P2, starting in early September at prices of 1,199 and 1,299 euros, respectively. While the P2 model does not offer better cleaning performance than the A2, it includes additional features such as a transparent housing for its maintenance station, a compartment for deodorant, and a UV lamp for sanitizing the dust bag. Meanwhile, the Osmo 360 II retains the same sensor format as its predecessor but improves its video capabilities, including an increase in frame rate and the introduction of an advanced night mode.
