Three men were sentenced to prison terms ranging from six to twelve months by the Grenoble Correctional Court on September 10, according to ICI Isère. The men were arrested on August 2 in Echirolles, in the apartment of a tenant who was later found dead in a park in Grenoble. They were convicted for possession or use of narcotics with prior offenses. Two of the men will serve their sentences under electronic monitoring, while the third will be incarcerated. All three were also fined between 500 and 1,000 euros and are prohibited from entering the Mistral neighborhood and the broader Grenoble metropolitan area for three years. During the court hearing, the men claimed they were drug couriers who were arrested while "restocking" in the apartment. They said they were recruited through social media and had come to the area to buy drugs themselves. One of the defendants admitted to being tempted by "easy money" and began delivering pre-stamped "Mistral 38" packages containing substances like cocaine, ketamine, herbs, or resin only a few weeks before his arrest. The incident began when a 21-year-old man called the police at the start of August to report the presence of narcotics in his home. He was later found dead in Bachelard-Champs-Elysées Park in Grenoble on August 3. The prosecutor confirmed that the victim was indeed the tenant of the apartment where the narcotics were found and had alerted the police to their presence. Law enforcement discovered narcotics valued at 100,000 euros in the apartment, leading to the arrest of three individuals. The murder investigation into the victim’s death is ongoing. While the court dealt with the charges related to drug offenses, the circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain under investigation. Authorities have not yet determined whether the narcotics found in the apartment were connected to his death, and further inquiries are expected to shed light on the case.
