Closures announced for cultural sites in Lyon

The Metropole of Lyon has announced that two major cultural institutions, the Museum of Confluences and Lugdunum – Museum and Roman Theatres, will be closed on Saturday, October 31, as a precautionary measure. This decision is linked to planned mobilizations in the city, aimed at addressing concerns about the rising cost of living.

Closure details for both museums

Lugdunum will be closed entirely on Saturday, while the Museum of Confluences will remain open until 1:15 p.m., after which it will close at 2 p.m. These partial and full closures are intended to ensure the safety of visitors, staff, and the cultural artifacts housed in the museums.

Reason for the precautionary closures

The Metropole of Lyon stated that the closures are a response to the risks associated with planned mobilizations against the high cost of living. These measures are meant to protect both people and the cultural heritage of the city during the events.

Temporary nature of the closures

Both museums will reopen on Sunday, November 1, with the Metropole emphasizing that the closures are temporary and limited to Saturday. Similar precautionary measures were implemented the previous weekend on October 24, indicating a pattern of response to such events.
