Fiat adds larger battery to Grande Panda

Fiat has introduced a larger 54 kWh battery option for its Grande Panda electric vehicle, available starting from the base Pop trim. This battery provides a 392 km WLTP range for the Pop version, priced at 25,900 €, and 400 km for the Icon version at 27,800 €.

Pricing and discount details

The price per kilometer for the Pop and Icon versions is approximately 66 € and 69 €, respectively. With a current 1,500 € discount, these figures drop to 62 € and 65 €. The 44 kWh battery version, offering a 327 km range, remains available at 23,900 € without any discount.

Battery and performance specifications

The 54 kWh battery used in the Grande Panda is the same as in the Fiat 600e and the new SUV Grizzly. The motor retains its 113 horsepower and supports fast charging at 100 kW. The update was announced in the Netherlands on October 28, though Fiat has not officially commented on it in France.

Comparison with direct competitors

The Grande Panda offers a better range-to-price ratio compared to direct competitors like the Renault 5, Volkswagen ID. Polo, and Citroën ë-C3. The cheapest Renault 5 model costs 28,490 € for 315 km WLTP, which is approximately 90 € per kilometer.

Price per kilometer comparisons

The Volkswagen ID. Polo Trend offers 334 km with a 37 kWh battery at 24,995 €, which is 75 € per kilometer. The Citroën ë-C3, which shares its platform with the Panda, performs worse at 23,850 € for 325 km in Autonomie Confort, which is 73 € per kilometer. Only the MG4 EV Urban surpasses the Grande Panda in the price per kilometer if the discount is counted.

Equipment differences between trims

The Fiat Grande Panda Pop, priced at 25,900 €, has the strict minimum in equipment compared to its competitors, including 16-inch steel wheels, manual air conditioning, and reverse sensors. It lacks a central touchscreen, only offering a stand for placing a smartphone. Upgrading to the Icon trim at 27,800 € adds a 10.25-inch touchscreen, automatic air conditioning, and a rearview camera.
