Suunto has introduced the Suunto Run 2, a new sport watch aimed mainly at runners but offering several upgrades from its predecessor. The watch weighs just 35 grams and features a 1.32-inch AMOLED screen with a brightness of 2000 nits, ensuring visibility even in bright conditions. It boasts a 10-day battery life under normal use and can track location with precise GPS for up to 24 hours. The device is water-resistant up to 5 ATM, which means it can withstand water pressure equivalent to a depth of 50 meters, and includes 4 GB or 64 GB of storage capacity. It supports offline maps and MP3 playback, making it suitable for various outdoor and indoor activities. The starting price is 300 €, with a higher-end model priced at 350 €. The Suunto Run 2 includes an improved 12-channel heart rate sensor, which delivers more accurate readings during high-intensity exercises such as rowing and bodyweight workouts. The sensor is positioned on the back of the watch and features a 2.5D curved glass to improve contact with the wrist. It also includes an enhanced dual-frequency GNSS receiver that supports the five major satellite networks, significantly improving GPS accuracy and performance. A new feature called EnergySense has been added to the Suunto Run 2, which predicts a user's endurance based on calculated VO2 max and lactate threshold. To activate this feature, users must complete at least three outdoor running sessions at a consistent pace. The watch also provides a real-time arrival time prediction, helping users understand their current pace and what they can expect from future races based on their fitness level. Designed specifically for runners, the Suunto Run 2 includes several sport modes tailored to different types of running. Users can choose from Free training, Duration training, Distance training, Calorie training, and a "ghost runner" mode, which lets them set a target pace and track their progress against a virtual runner. The watch also allows users to track a range of activities, both indoors and outdoors, including walking, indoor rowing, cycling, and running. It comes with the Suunto AI Coach app, which offers personalized training programs based on sleep, recovery, and health data to optimize training plans. The Suunto Run 2 is available in multiple colors, including "Aloe Green," which features a black case with a light green strap that has white reflections. The watch case is made of stainless steel, with buttons and a crown on the right side. Other color options include black and "Feather Gold" for those who prefer different styles. As part of Suunto's ongoing effort to provide affordable, high-quality sport watches, the 4 GB model offers a cost-effective option for runners, meeting most needs without the extra cost. Its battery life is expected to meet the demands of both short-distance and long-distance training, from 5 km runs to full marathons.
