Suunto, a Finnish company known for its high-quality outdoor and sports watches, is launching the Suunto Run 2, a new device aimed at road runners. The watch is designed for distances ranging from 5 km to marathons and is intended to be a more affordable option compared to other popular brands like Garmin and Coros. It has a 46 mm diameter, is 11.7 mm thick, and weighs 35 grams without the strap. Available in three colors, the Suunto Run 2 comes in two versions: 4 GB for 299 euros and 64 GB for 349 euros. It has been available for purchase in France since September 8, 2026.
The Suunto Run 2 is equipped with a 1.32-inch AMOLED screen that has a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and a peak brightness of 2000 cd/m², allowing it to be easily read even in bright sunlight. The screen automatically adjusts to ambient light and supports up to 50 downloadable watch faces. It is water-resistant up to 5 ATM, which means it can withstand water pressure equivalent to a depth of 50 meters, making it suitable for swimming and rain. The watch includes sensors for heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen levels), sleep tracking, and VFC (vo2 max estimation), as well as a multi-GNSS chip for precise location tracking. However, it does not include features such as an electrocardiogram, microphone, speaker, flashlight, NFC chip, or an e-SIM for 4G connectivity.
The Suunto Run 2 is compatible with both iOS and Android smartphones and uses the Suunto app for setup and control. It features three side buttons and a rotating crown for navigation, along with a touchscreen interface for accessing various functions, including sports profiles, settings, and widgets. The watch includes a “Climb Guidance” feature that helps users navigate uphill terrain and an “EnergySense” function that provides insights into energy levels during runs. It also has a specialized “marathon” training mode that tracks performance metrics on race day.
In terms of GPS accuracy, the Suunto Run 2 performed similarly to the Garmin Fenix 8, with a total deviation of less than 200 meters over a 75 km test run. The watch has a battery capacity of 380 mAh, offering up to ten days of use on a single charge or 24 hours of continuous GPS tracking. During more intense usage, it lasted five days and 19 hours before needing a recharge, which takes just over an hour and a quarter using the included USB-C cable. The watch comes with a silicone strap that can be easily replaced with a 22 mm wide strap using a quick-release mechanism.
