Mammotion, a Chinese company known for making wireless robotic lawn mowers, has unveiled a new model called the Luba 4 AWD at a trade fair in Berlin. This robot uses a hybrid navigation system that includes four cameras and a 360° LiDAR (a sensor that uses laser pulses to map the environment), similar to the Luba Mini 2 AWD model introduced earlier at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The Luba 4 AWD also features an optional edge-cutting module, which helps ensure that grass along the edges of lawns is cut evenly.
The Luba 4 AWD uses a sophisticated positioning system called Surround Quad-Vision × Tri-Fusion. This system combines four wide-angle cameras, a 360° LiDAR dome, and a NetRTK satellite service to guide the robot with precision, even in areas with thick vegetation or during low light. The robot is equipped with all-wheel drive, independent front steering wheels, and wheel-by-wheel torque control, enabling it to climb steep slopes up to 80% (38.6°) and navigate over obstacles as high as 60 mm.
The Luba 4 AWD range includes three models, each designed for different lawn sizes. The 3000F model is suitable for areas up to 3,000 square meters and features a two-disk cutting system with 165 W motors and a 12.75 Ah battery. The 6000F model, for larger properties up to 6,000 square meters, includes a larger battery, faster charging, and support for video streaming and voice commands. The 12000F model, for areas up to 12,000 square meters, has a three-disk cutting system and a higher weight of 29 kg. The optional edge-cutting module is only compatible with the 6000F and 12000F models.
In addition to the consumer-focused Luba series, Mammotion is expanding into the professional market with the Maston range. The Maston models are built on a high-voltage platform with 58 V power and include hot-swappable batteries and a 500 W fast charger. They use an advanced Tri-Fusion 2.0 perception system supported by an AI processor capable of handling complex tasks, including obstacle detection and remote management via the Mammotion Fleet Management cloud platform.
The Maston range includes two specialized models: Maston Rotary, ideal for dense grass and poorly maintained areas, and Maston Flail, designed for golf courses and ornamental lawns. Maston Rotary uses three high-powered cutting motors to cover up to 24,000 square meters per day, while Maston Flail features a three-disk system that can handle mowing from 10 mm height and achieve a smooth, even cut across 40,000 square meters daily. Both models use an all-wheel drive system with individual suspension and Zero-Turn steering to protect the grass during operation. Pre-orders for the Maston range are now available through authorized distributors.
