A test drive of the Renault 4 electric covered nearly 800 km across various road types, including a trip from Paris to Caen, to evaluate its performance as a family car. The car featured a 52 kWh battery, a 150 hp motor, and a claimed range of around 400 km under the WLTP standard.

Urban performance and handling

In city environments, the Renault 4 electric handled well, with smooth driving, simple controls, and a small turning radius that made it easy to maneuver. The 150 hp motor was adequate for daily traffic, allowing for easy overtaking and merging into traffic without stress.

Interior design and ergonomics

The interior had two screens that provided useful information without being too distracting. However, some users found the physical controls and volume controls required time to get used to. The rearview camera had a blurred image, which was seen as outdated for a 2026 model.

Highway performance and consumption

On the highway, the Renault 4 electric completed a 226 km trip from Paris to Caen without recharging, starting with a full battery and arriving at 10% charge. The average energy consumption was 19.4 kWh per 100 km, considered reasonable for its size.

Interior space and practicality

The rear seats were suitable for children but less comfortable for adults on long trips. The trunk had a low loading threshold, making it practical for daily use. However, the car's length of 4.14 meters meant it could not match the space of an SUV, though it was considered adequate for a family with one or two young children.

Charging speed and cost

The car’s charging speed was limited to 100 kW in direct current, with a full charge from 10% to 80% taking about 36 minutes and from 10% to 100% taking 59 minutes. While this is manageable for occasional trips, it could be a drawback for long-distance travel. The Renault 4 electric starts at 37,290 € before deductions, with an entry-level model available for 29,990 €.
