Mamadou Coulibaly, known professionally as Doums, was taken into custody in Vitry-sur-Seine, a city in the Val-de-Marne department, on Sunday. He is suspected of making repeated threats against his spouse, according to officials from the Créteil prosecutor's office. Doums had previously been convicted of domestic violence several months ago. In February, he was sentenced to eight months in prison, but the sentence was suspended, for domestic violence against his partner that occurred between December 2022 and January 2026. However, his defense lawyer claimed that her client was cleared of the incidents that took place in 2022, 2023, and 2024. In January, his partner went to the Vitry-sur-Seine police station, near Paris, to report incidents of domestic violence that occurred at their family home in front of their two children, according to a police source. These incidents led to a day of total work incapacity (ITT), which is a term used to describe a period when someone cannot work due to illness or injury. In a separate case, Doums is accused by actress Adèle Exarchopoulos of repeated instances of domestic violence. The two were in a relationship until 2018 and have a son together. A trial is scheduled for February 8 in a closed session at the Paris correctional court. Doums already has a criminal record that includes three convictions related to incidents involving Adèle Exarchopoulos: one for domestic violence and two for sending malicious phone calls and messages. He was once a member of the collective L'Entourage, a group of French hip-hop artists that included Alpha Wann, Deen Burbigo, and Nekfeu. Doums also has a significant presence on Spotify, with around 530,000 monthly listeners. He was part of the duo 2Fingz with the artist Népal. The cases against Doums highlight concerns about domestic violence and the legal consequences of such actions. These incidents have drawn attention not only to the personal lives of those involved but also to the broader issue of domestic abuse within public figures. The legal proceedings are expected to provide more details about the nature of the alleged misconduct and the potential outcomes for Doums. The legal actions against Doums are part of a larger conversation about accountability and justice in cases of domestic violence. His previous convictions and the current allegations against him reflect the ongoing efforts to address such issues within the legal system. The outcomes of these cases could have implications for how domestic violence is handled in similar situations.
