New dance performance premieres in Paris
Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's new dance work, GLA55, premiered in Paris from 11 to 16 December 2026 at La Villette, Grande Halle - Nef Sud. The performance is part of De Keersmaeker's ongoing exploration of minimalist music and its visual interpretations.Inspiration from Philip Glass's early compositions
GLA55 is based on the early works of Philip Glass, composed between 1969 and 1970, including Music in Contrary Motion, Music in Fifths, Music in Similar Motion, and Music with Changing Parts. These compositions are known for their continuous musical flow, built on repetition, offset, and transformation of short motifs.Structure and choreography of the performance
The piece is choreographed by De Keersmaeker and performed by six dancers and musicians from Ictus and BL!NDMAN. It consists of ten movements and explores a "living geometry" made of repetitions, rotations, and whirls, pushing the concept until the point of vertigo.Collaboration and creative team
GLA55 features a collaboration with musicians including Fabian Coomans, Chryssi Dimitriou, Aisha Orazbayeva, Hendrik Pellens, Jean-Luc Plouvier, Piet Rebel, and Eric Sleichim. Lighting is designed by Minna Tiikkainen, costumes by Aouatif Boulaich, and dramaturgy by Wannes Gyselinck. The sound design is handled by Alexandre Fostier. The performance lasts 55 minutes.
