At IFA 2026, Mova, a company that positions itself as a global leader in robotic lawnmowers with LiDAR (a sensor technology that uses laser pulses to map environments), unveiled new innovations in robotic lawn care. The highlight was the LiDAX Ultra Gen 2, a next-generation robotic lawnmower that incorporates UltraTrim 3.0 technology. This advancement aims to solve a common problem: leftover grass strips along fences and walls. The new model features a secondary cutting disc on the right side of the robot, which is designed to achieve a clean, zero-centimeter cut along hard edges. While the current LiDAX Ultra series ranges in price from around 949 € to 1,499 €, the exact price and release date for the Gen 2 version have not yet been disclosed.
UltraTrim 3.0 is described by Mova as a promising improvement over the previous UltraTrim 2.0, which still left about 3 cm of uncut grass along raised edges. This required homeowners to manually trim these areas with shears. The new version aims to eliminate the need for this extra work, though it remains to be tested by independent labs to confirm its effectiveness.
Looking ahead, Mova is also developing UltraTrim 4.0, which introduces a floating and adaptive cutting arm. This technology, similar to that found on the Segway Navimow H5, allows the lawnmower to adjust to uneven terrain and follow complex garden contours, such as winding flower bed borders. The arm can automatically retract when encountering rigid obstacles and offers three height settings for more precise lawn maintenance.
In addition to the LiDAX Ultra Gen 2, Mova introduced the AstraX prototype, an outdoor robot with a multifunctional articulated arm. Guided by AI vision, this arm can perform various tasks, such as moving obstacles like toys or branches out of the robot's path, picking up ripe fruits from shrubs, and even acting as a mobile irrigation system with a dedicated nozzle. This marks a continuation of Mova’s strategy to integrate robotic arms into its product lineup. Earlier, the company showcased similar technology in robotic lawnmowers and pool robots, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to expanding the capabilities of autonomous garden robots.
