Motorola recently unveiled the Signature 27 smartphone during the Snapdragon Summit, an event where companies showcase their latest technologies powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. The Signature 27 is notable for being the first Motorola device to feature the "Audio by B&O" label, indicating a collaboration with Bang & Olufsen, a Danish company known for high-end audio equipment. This partnership goes beyond just branding; it involves Bang & Olufsen’s acoustic engineers working directly on Motorola’s flagship devices to test, calibrate, and adjust sound profiles. This includes tuning built-in speakers, developing specialized sound modes, and planning long-term integration across future smartphone models. The Signature 27 includes high-end hardware such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, a Sony LYTIA 200-megapixel main camera sensor compatible with Dolby Vision, and a periscope zoom module capable of up to 100x magnification. The collaboration with Bang & Olufsen is not just a logo placement—it involves technical and software integration to enhance the overall audio experience on the device. This effort reflects Motorola’s commitment to delivering premium sound quality across both hardware and software components. Motorola has not confirmed whether Bose, its previous partner for earbuds like the Moto Buds series, will remain exclusive to earbuds while Bang & Olufsen focuses on smartphone sound engineering. So far, no leaks or official announcements suggest that future Moto Buds will be branded with Bang & Olufsen, indicating that Bose may continue its role in earbud development while Bang & Olufsen concentrates on smartphone audio. Other smartphone manufacturers have also formed audio partnerships to enhance their devices' sound quality. Xiaomi integrated Harman Kardon-tuned dual speakers into the Mi 11 and later models, including earbuds and speakers. POCO, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, features Bose sound in devices like the POCO F8 Ultra. OnePlus partnered with Dynaudio for its Buds Pro series, focusing on dual driver technology. Huawei collaborated with Devialet for connected speakers, and Asus has worked with Dirac since 2020 to provide spatial audio features in its ROG Phone lineup. These partnerships highlight a growing trend in the industry to elevate the audio experience through specialized collaborations.
