In September 2026, Narwal introduced the Freo 20 Edge, a new version of its popular robot vacuum cleaner. This model brings back the roller cleaning system used in the original Freo 20 but in a more affordable version. The Freo 20 Edge is priced at 719.10 €, a reduction of 80 € from the previous price, using the code FREOS10. It also comes with a set of accessories, including two cleaning solutions, two cleaning pads, and a rotating brush, as a promotional gift. Narwal has split its Freo 20 line into two models: the "classic" Freo 20 and the Freo 20 Edge. While the classic model focuses on hot water cleaning and uses dual cameras for navigation, the Edge version is designed to clean edges and corners—areas most robot vacuums tend to miss. Instead of the usual two rotating discs, the Edge uses a 26.6 cm wide roller that stays in contact with the floor as it moves. Sixteen nozzles supply clean water to the roller, and a scraper removes dirt, which is then collected in a separate reservoir. This system allows for continuous rinsing during cleaning, reducing the amount of dirt left on the roller after passing through a dirty area. The model also applies a pressing force of 12 N, equivalent to about 1.2 kg of pressure, to help lift dirt from the floor. What sets the Freo 20 Edge apart is its ability to shift up to 5 cm sideways to clean along skirting boards and the base of furniture, minimizing the need for manual cleaning. On carpets, the roller lifts by 12 mm, which is useful for thick or long-pile carpets. The vacuum offers 31,000 Pa of suction power, and a main conical brush helps direct hair to the end of the roller, while a side brush can reverse its rotation to release hair, reducing the need for untangling. When returning to its charging station, the robot empties the dust, cleans the roller, and dries it at 45 °C. While slightly smaller than the standard model, the base still measures 36 × 45 × 53 cm, so users should ensure they have enough space. Despite the price reduction, the Freo 20 Edge is considered a strong value for a new model. It retains key features like the continuously rinsed roller, the ability to clean along edges, and the powerful 31,000 Pa suction. While the classic Freo 20 includes hot water cleaning up to 60 °C and dual cameras for object recognition, the Edge uses LiDAR and structured light sensors for navigation. Additionally, its charging station dries the roller at 45 °C, compared to 60 °C for the classic model. The Freo 20 Edge offers a compelling option for those looking for effective edge cleaning without the higher cost of the classic version.
