Fake SMS messages, fraudulent emails, and calls pretending to be from government or trusted organizations are becoming a common experience for many French citizens. In Corsica, as in the rest of France, attempts at online fraud are increasing and are affecting people of all ages. To help residents recognize and avoid these threats, several France services centers on the island are organizing awareness campaigns about digital risks. On Tuesday, October 6, in Castello-di-Rostino, a morning dedicated to cybersecurity and the prevention of digital fraud brought together residents, local partners, and experts at a France services labeled post office. The event aimed to help people understand digital threats and learn how to better protect themselves from them. The workshop was led by Major Vincent Clochet from the Calacuccia gendarmerie and focused on situations that users often face, such as fake administrative messages, phishing attempts, identity theft, account hacking, and online purchase scams. In a friendly and interactive atmosphere, participants shared their experiences, asked questions, and received practical advice on securing their online activities and personal data. Danielle Moracchini, Director of Security and Prevention of Incivilities at La Poste, was also present and emphasized the importance of vigilance in a world where digital tools are increasingly essential in daily life. Andréa and Corinne, customer service officers at the France services center in Castello-di-Rostino, noted that the workshop allowed participants to discuss real-life situations they might encounter daily. They said the discussions with the gendarmerie provided simple guidelines to help people recognize fraud attempts and develop the right responses. Similar efforts are taking place in other areas of Corsica, such as Saint-Florent, where a workshop on cyber fraud brought together the public with the gendarmerie’s cybersecurity representative. Additional events are planned in Calacuccia, Patrimonio, Galeria, and Murato. These initiatives are based on the belief that information is the best defense against fraud. On a daily basis, France services advisors help users with online procedures and assist them in detecting increasingly sophisticated scams. By working together with France services labeled post offices, law enforcement, and institutional partners, this collective approach strengthens the digital security of residents and helps them feel more confident using essential digital tools. Chloé, a customer service officer at France services in Saint-Florent, said the centers are a place where people can come without fear of making mistakes, providing reassurance and helping people regain control in the face of complex digital procedures and fraud risks.
