Mayor encourages community clean-up

The mayor of Nîmes, Vincent Bouget, emphasized that maintaining a clean city should not fall solely on residents, stating that it is a shared civic responsibility and an opportunity for community pride.

Clean walk event planned

On November 14 at 10:00, Nîmes will host a large "clean walk" event across all its neighborhoods, inviting residents, associations, sports clubs, and companies to participate in the initiative.

Local groups to join the effort

Several local organizations have already confirmed their participation, including Usam, Nîmes Olympique, and the Nîmes rugby club, showing strong community support for the event.

Preparation meeting scheduled

A preparation meeting for the event is set for November 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the house of associations, where organizers will likely discuss logistics and participant roles.

Part of broader cleanliness plan

This initiative is part of the "Nîmes Clean City" plan, which aims to strengthen efforts by the city and Nîmes Métropole to improve cleanliness and reduce incivilities.

Recent waste collection efforts

Since the start of October, two waste collection trucks have gathered trash from 335 points across the city, focusing on priority neighborhoods and the city center.

Cleanliness not tied to social level

François Séguy, the deputy for cleanliness, pointed out that "It is not necessarily the social level that determines cleanliness," highlighting that cleanliness efforts are not limited to any specific group.
