New PHEV version of Kodiaq unveiled

Skoda has introduced a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of its Kodiaq SUV, featuring 272 horsepower. This model joins the existing 204-horsepower version and is available in either a high-end trim or with the sporty RS model.

Engine and battery specifications

The new PHEV combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder TSI engine producing 177 horsepower with an electric motor delivering 116 horsepower. The battery has a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh (19.7 kWh net) and supports fast charging with direct current up to 40 kW.

2026 model year updates

The 2026 model year for Skoda saw the introduction of two electric SUVs: the small Epiq and the large Peaq. Alongside these, the Kodiaq range was updated, with the brand expanding its plug-in hybrid options, even in France. The increased power comes from engine improvements and software updates to the traction control system.

New Laurin & Klement trim

The return of the Laurin & Klement (L & K) trim adds luxury features to the Kodiaq range. This trim includes a panoramic opening roof, electric tailgate with hands-free opening, front electric/massaging/ventilated seats, 360-degree view, a Canton audio system with 14 speakers, Matrix LED headlights, and an illuminated grille. The 272-horsepower PHEV version with this trim starts at 65,440 euros.

RS model with PHEV engine

The new PHEV engine is also available with the sporty RS model, priced at 63,160 euros. The RS model includes 20-inch wheels, specific bumpers, and active suspension but excludes the 360-degree view and massaging/ventilated seats. Previously, the RS had a 2.0-liter TSI engine that incurred a CO2 penalty, making it unsellable in France. The PHEV avoids this penalty but faces a weight penalty of 2,675 euros.
