Expansion of Jean Poirier's restaurants

At the beginning of October 2026, young entrepreneur Jean Poirier has expanded his dining establishments. His original concept, Le Chien Fou, which focuses on meat, has now reached Paris and Poitiers, in addition to its existing location in Orléans. Two other restaurants, Le Chien Jaune and Le Garde Manger, are doing well on Rue Bernard Palissy and Place de la Victoire, respectively.

New location at Le Jardin Botanique

A new entity, the 5th, is now located at Le Jardin Botanique. This addition joins Le Chien Fou’s corner at the food court La Belle Vue, where marrow bones and other delights are served. The new location is part of Poirier’s ongoing expansion, reflecting the growing popularity of his concept.

Le Chat Vert opens in the park

At the entrance of Le Jardin Botanique, opposite the access to the Bretonneau hospital, is Le Chat Vert. This new café-snack replaces the restaurant-café Au Rendez-Vous du Botanique, which had previously occupied the space. The closure of the earlier establishment led to a conflict with the city council, but Poirier and his team have now installed a completely new concept in its place.

Concept and layout of Le Chat Vert

Le Chat Vert features a small kitchen space of a few square meters housed in a container-type building, along with a terrace equipped with parasols to provide shade. The café is aimed at the teams of the CHU, patients, their families, and park visitors, offering a convenient and accessible dining option within the park.

Menu and pricing details

The menu includes two brunch options: one for 20€ with a savory dish, a sweet dish, a fresh drink, and unlimited hot drinks, and a mini brunch for 14€ for a savory dish plus a drink or 8€ for a sweet dish plus a drink. The menu emphasizes vegetarian recipes as requested by the city council, but also includes salmon in a focaccia and chicken in a Caesar salad.

Focus on accessibility and affordability

The offerings are designed to appeal to a wide audience, with classic dishes like Nutella waffles rather than more niche options. Prices are reasonably set, though the supply chain is still under development, with plans to partner with a local baker for specialized products. Visitors can enjoy a taco on-site or take away a well-crispy-soft cookie for 2€, and the café is open seven days a week, in line with the park’s hours.
