Fujifilm has unveiled the Instax Link Wide 2, an upgraded version of its popular large-format instant photo printer. The new model continues to use the same Instax Wide film size of 86 x 106 mm, but it features a more modern design and added creative tools. The printer is set to launch at the end of September 2026 with a price tag of 175 euros, which is 25 euros more than the original Instax Link Wide released in 2021.
The Instax Link Wide 2 comes with a new mobile app that offers more ways to personalize prints. One notable feature is the "Photo Mixer" tool, which lets users combine several photos from their smartphone into a collage-style layout. The app also provides over 1600 stickers, frames, filters, emojis, and text tools to enhance printed images.
The printer keeps some of the original model's features, such as the ability to print QR codes directly onto photos. These QR codes can link to websites, show locations, or include messages and audio clips. It connects to smartphones using Bluetooth 5.1 and can also print directly from the Instax Pal or Fujifilm cameras. One upgrade from the previous model is the switch from a micro-USB port to a USB-C connector, a change that was previously considered outdated.
Fujifilm has not made major changes to the printer's core technology. The original Instax Link Wide was praised for its quick print times, producing a film in under 15 seconds and fully developing it in just a few minutes. Whether the second generation improves image quality will need to be tested further, but the new model clearly focuses on enhancing the user experience through better design and more creative options.
