Amazon is launching a new version of its Fire TV Stick 4K on Wednesday, September 30. This updated device comes with a redesigned remote control that is intended to make navigation easier and more intuitive. The new Fire TV Stick 4K (2026) is currently available on Amazon at a reduced price of 35.99 euros, which is significantly lower than its original launch price of 74.99 euros. According to Amazon, the device offers faster application launch times than a 4K competitor at the same price, with apps launching more than 35 percent faster and playback starting nearly 20 percent faster. The redesigned remote has an asymmetric shape, a weighted base, and buttons that are easier to handle by touch. The home button now features a metal surface, and the remote includes a customizable star button that was previously only available on the high-end Alexa Voice Remote Pro. These changes are meant to improve user experience and make the remote more comfortable for everyday use. The Fire TV Stick 4K (2026) supports Wi-Fi 6, 4K resolution at 60 images per second, and AV1 decoding, which is a more efficient video compression format. However, it no longer supports Dolby Vision, a high dynamic range format that has been reserved for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. The device runs on Vega OS, a Linux-based operating system developed by Amazon that replaces the previous Android-based system. This change means users can no longer sideload Android applications, but the device still includes popular apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, Spotify, and VLC. Amazon claims to have added more than 2,000 applications to the Vega OS catalog since the first device under this system was released last year. This expansion aims to provide users with a broader range of content and services while maintaining the performance and functionality improvements introduced with the new operating system.
