Toulouse offers diverse autumn school holiday activities

During the autumn school holidays, Toulouse presents a variety of activities for both children and adults, including a Pokémon exhibition, a nocturnal investigation in a chapel, museum animations, and a free science festival. These events aim to engage visitors of all ages with educational and entertaining experiences.

Pokémon exhibition combines space and fantasy

At Cité de l'espace, an unprecedented exhibition titled Pokémon x ESA merges the missions of the European Space Agency with the Pokémon universe. Educational panels and a special Pokémon GO gameplay allow visitors to learn about European space activities while encountering an astronaut Pikachu. Another exhibition, εpsilon, highlights the space mission of French astronaut Sophie Adenot aboard the International Space Station.

Interactive astronaut training and lunar exploration

Cité de l'espace also offers an animation titled "How does ESA recruit astronauts?" where participants can experience the selection process for future space missions. A 40-minute LuneXplorer experience simulates a lunar mission, allowing visitors to experience takeoff and landing phases as an astronaut. The venue is open daily during the holidays, with ticket prices ranging from 20.50€ to 29€.

Night treasure hunt in a historic chapel

On October 22, the Carmélites chapel hosts a night treasure hunt for participants aged 8 and older. Teams use flashlights and exploration bags to solve puzzles and uncover clues hidden in the chapel's architecture. The event ends with a dramatic lighting reveal of the chapel’s painted decor, inspired by the Sistine Chapel. Tickets cost 12€, and online booking is required.

Museum explores minerals and cave legends

The Museum in Toulouse invites visitors to explore the world of rocks and crystals through various animations during the holidays. Events include guided visits to the museum's reserve, an atelier on rock forms, and an investigation to identify a mysterious crystal. The program also includes performances and film-concerts about caves and natural phenomena.

Science festival highlights science and fiction

The Lumières sur le Quai festival returns for its 12th edition with the theme "Our Futures Together," running throughout the autumn school holidays. The event includes immersive creations, workshops, and debates on topics like cloud seeding. The festival also features family-friendly activities, such as conferences on plushology and space exploration, and screenings of short films and animated movies. Entry is free, except for some performances and projections.
