Temperature drop expected in France

A temperature decrease of up to 15°C within 48 hours is expected as France enters the All Saints' Day holiday break, following a heat peak on Thursday.

Rapid cooling due to north to northeast wind

Temperatures will drop rapidly with the arrival of a north to northeast airflow, which will enhance the feeling of coolness this weekend, despite generally dry weather across France.

Temperature ranges this weekend

After reaching 24 to 28°C on Thursday across much of France, with locally higher temperatures in the southwest, temperatures could drop by 10 to 15°C within 48 hours. This weekend, temperatures will often be 12 to 16°C in the north and east, and 15 to 18°C in the west.

Mediterranean remains warmer

However, warmth will be maintained near the Mediterranean, with generally around 20°C on Saturday and Sunday. In some areas, temperatures will drop by 10 to 15°C within 48 hours.

Stronger winds and cooler perception

The northeast wind will strengthen, with gusts potentially reaching 50 to 60 km/h, enhancing the feeling of coolness. The perceived temperature will become distinctly autumnal, or even cold in some places in the north and east for the first days of the holiday.

Cooler temperatures in the northeast

The perceived temperature could not exceed 10°C in the northeast during the best part of the day. The north wind will be noticeable this weekend, especially in the northern half of the country, enhancing the feeling of coolness.

Dry weather continues

The weather will remain generally dry in France. Despite this temperature drop, there will not be a widespread rainy degradation: under the influence of the anticyclone, the weather will remain often calm and dry, with mainly a change in air mass and perceived temperature.

Potential for rain in the southeast

However, the possibility of a cold pool positioning itself over the western part of the Mediterranean is being monitored, with a potential rainy episode in the southeast of the country during the coming week.
