A 22-year-old man from Orléans, France, named Lucas Le Manac'h, is trying to set a new record for the most films seen in a cinema in one year. He started his challenge on January 2 of last year and has already watched 950 films, according to reports from La République du Centre and Le Journal du Centre. His goal is to reach either 1,200 or 1,300 films by the end of the year. The current record, previously held by an American who watched 777 films, could be broken by Le Manac'h if he continues at his current pace. For the record, Le Manac'h spent 66 days at the Pathé cinema in Orléans, watching two specific films repeatedly: Tombé du ciel (which translates to "Fallen from the Sky") 55 times and Le Marsupilami (a French animated film) 50 times. However, he has also seen 160 different films, according to France 3 régions. He explained that the challenge was difficult at first, but he gradually adapted. He has noticed that he can now appreciate more details in films and can spot errors in animated movies more quickly. To have his record officially recognized, Le Manac'h has kept detailed records of all his cinema visits. He has collected photos and cinema tickets as proof of each screening. This is important because official recognition typically requires verifiable evidence of the claimed achievements. In 2021, another individual named Alexandre Astier watched Kaamelott, a French television series about the adventures of King Arthur, at the cinema with a fan who was trying to set a record for watching the same film in Reims. The fan watched Kaamelott 204 times, surpassing an American who had previously watched Avengers: Endgame 191 times.
