Brewery links to local venues

The new Barlou brewery in Quingey, France, emphasizes its connection to the Loue Bar of Quingey and Ounans, two popular spots along the Loue river known for their welcoming atmosphere and live music events. The brewery's managers, Florent Brischoux and Alix Pouillard, say the project continues the local tradition of creating social spaces along the river.

Brewery blends craft beer with outdoor activities

Barlou is positioned at the intersection of craft beer, outdoor leisure activities, and convivial places. The project is also connected to Val Nature, an organization that promotes outdoor activities around the Loue river, further reinforcing the brewery's local focus and community engagement.

Managers bring complementary skills

Florent Brischoux, a zythologist specializing in beer production and development, and Alix Pouillard, who manages the Loue Bar and Val Nature leisure centers, have combined their expertise to open the brewery. Their goal is to create a beer that reflects the local identity and encourages people to gather in the area.

Brewery focuses on local production and distribution

Barlou produces its beer on-site in Quingey, with steps including brewing, fermentation, cooling, and packaging all done locally. The brewery offers three beer ranges and packages them in bottles and large barrels for sale in local shops, restaurants, and events. The production process is designed to support the brand's growth and distribution.

Public access and future plans

Barlou is open to the public every Thursday for direct sales and offers appointments for beer pickups. A new sales point at the Loue Bar in Quingey is expected to open soon, and a cultural café project is progressing with an anticipated opening in 2027.
