Rudy Sautron's first PGA Tour event

Rudy Sautron, a 21-year-old French golfer, will compete in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, marking his debut on the PGA Tour. This follows his recent appearance at the FedEx Open de France, where he did not qualify for the weekend rounds.

Sautron's travel challenges

Sautron experienced a significant delay on his flight to Bermuda, which was postponed by four hours and 30 minutes. This caused him to miss his initial connection, though he confirmed he would depart for Bermuda the next morning and expected to arrive by afternoon.

Course conditions and preparation

Sautron plans to spend limited time preparing for the Port Royal Golf Course, intending to play nine holes and walk the remaining nine. He noted that the course is known for its wind, a condition he is accustomed to from growing up in Reunion.

Support team and coaching

Sautron's caddie for the tournament will be his agent, Krando Nishiba, who played amateur golf for the University of South Carolina. His coach, Olivier Tourrenc, was unable to accompany him to Bermuda.

Sautron's recent experiences and confidence

Sautron highlighted that his recent participation in the Korn Ferry Tour in 2025, the U.S. Amateur, and the FedEx Open de France had provided him with valuable experience. Despite the challenges of his first PGA Tour event, he expressed confidence in his ability to compete.

Influences and future plans

Sautron cited Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler as his role models, noting their influence on his playing style and values. After the Bermuda tournament, he plans to compete in the Universiade in Thailand and will travel to the U.S. in early November to adjust to the time zone before returning to Reunion.
