Taylor Swift has been chosen to receive a special honor at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA). She will be the first recipient of the newly created MTV VMA Artist Director Honors, an award designed to celebrate artists who direct some or all of their own music videos. The award aims to highlight those who have expanded the creative potential of music videos and advanced visual storytelling in the industry. This recognition will mark a significant milestone for Swift, as it will make her the most-awarded artist in VMA history, surpassing her current tie with Beyoncé, who both hold 30 awards. The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards will be held on Sunday, September 27, starting at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time and 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by Snoop Dogg and will be broadcast on MTV and streamed on Paramount+ in the U.S. It will also be available globally the following day on Paramount+ and MTV. The show will feature a variety of performances and awards, with fan voting currently underway across 13 categories. This year’s VMAs will include a number of first-time nominees, such asGENER8ION and Yung Lean for their collaboration "Storm," K-pop group CORTIS, and singer Stella Lefty, who gained attention for her viral "Boston" track. Additionally, the Best Dance category will return after a seven-year absence.
