France 2 premieres new series

On Monday, October 19, France 2 aired the first episodes of La terre et le sang, a new series starring Thierry Neuvic and Vahina Giocante. The series explores the theme of vendetta through the story of Anto, a Parisian police officer of Corsican descent who is driven by a promise to his murdered brother to end a cycle of family revenge.

Plot details and central conflict

Anto returns to his hometown to take over the family estate but falls into an ambush and awakens ten years later from a coma. He discovers that his son now has a singular desire: revenge. The series raises the question of whether Anto will keep his promise to protect his son or be forced to confront the legacy of vengeance.

Episode dedication to Tchéky Karyo

After the opening scene and credits, the first episode of La terre et le sang reveals a card bearing the inscription "For Tchéky." The episode is dedicated to Tchéky Karyo, who plays Charles Luciani in the series. Karyo, who died on October 31, 2025, at the age of 72 due to cancer, was a well-known French actor with a long career in film and television.

Karyo’s career and legacy

Karyo appeared in over a hundred films in France and abroad and had notable roles in television series such as Kaamelott, The Missing, Le Nom de la rose, Section Zéro, and The Eddy. His performance in La terre et le sang marks his final on-screen role, making it a significant moment for fans and colleagues.

Creators honor Karyo’s memory

During a press conference at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival in September 2026, the creators of La terre et le sang paid tribute to Karyo. Pierre-Marie Mosconi, one of the series' creators, praised Karyo's dedication and professionalism, while Ange Basterga described working with him as a "childhood dream" and expressed deep emotion over his passing. Both creators emphasized the impact Karyo had on the production and the team.
