Oppo launches new smartphone with triple 200 megapixel camera

Oppo has introduced the Find X10 Pro Max, a smartphone featuring a triple 200 megapixel camera system, which it claims is the first of its kind in the smartphone market. The device includes three rear sensors, each with a 200 megapixel resolution, and is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, a 7,150 mAh battery, and is available in a 12 + 512 GB configuration. Initially launched at 1,799 euros, the phone is currently available in promotion at 1,699 euros on Amazon. Additionally, with a 200 euro trade-in bonus, it can be purchased for 1,600 euros at Boulanger, Darty, and Fnac.

Design and durability features

The Find X10 Pro Max adopts a design similar to that of the Find X9 Pro, featuring a minimalist and sleek look with thin bezels (1.15 mm) around the screen and flat sides. The back glass is sculpted in one piece, reducing the bulky look of the camera module. The aluminum chassis is described as very comfortable in hand. The device has three certifications (IP66, IP68, IP69), making it resistant to water and dust.

Screen and display capabilities

The front features a flat AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels and LTPO technology that dynamically varies the refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, with a possible push up to 144 Hz on some compatible games. The screen's colorimetry accuracy and brightness, measured at 1,030 nits, are noted as very good for outdoor use, though Oppo announced 2,000 nits.

Camera system and performance

The primary advantage of the Find X10 Pro Max lies in its camera system, which includes a main, ultra-wide angle, and periscope telephoto sensor, each with 200 megapixels. The ultra-wide angle sensor is noted for its sharpness, both day and night, while the wide angle offers a natural dynamism. However, the night trigger is described as a bit slow, and the device does not include a periscope optical zoom higher than 3x.

Software and hardware features

The Find X10 Pro Max runs on ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, featuring a new soft and fluid design. A notable feature is AI Mind Pilot, an AI agent that automates the organization of local documents by aggregating data from Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Manus. The device is powered by the high-end Dimensity 9600 Pro SoC, allowing it to run games like PUBG at 120 fps and Genshin Impact at 60 fps without noticeable slowdown. However, the cooling system shows limitations, with performance dropping significantly during prolonged stress tests and the front face temperature exceeding 50°C.

Battery life and charging options

In terms of battery life, the Find X10 Pro Max lasts two full days in real use with its 7,150 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is considered excellent. The phone supports fast wired charging with SUPERVOOC at 80 W, though the charger is not included, and wireless charging at 50 W is also possible.
