A three-month-old girl has died while camping with her family in a woodland area of Staffordshire. The incident occurred near Strawberry Lane in Cheslyn Hay on Saturday morning, when the baby experienced cardiac arrest. Air ambulance crews arrived at 8:45 a.m. and pronounced the child dead shortly after. The death has been labeled as "unexplained" by local authorities, and police have described it as an "isolated incident." Detective Inspector Katie Gregory stated that while the investigation is still in its early stages, the child's family was camping in the area, and the death is being treated as unexplained at this time. Following the incident, police cordoned off a fishing lake within the Wyrley and Essington Branch Canal Local Nature Reserve. Officers remain in the area to conduct their investigation. A witness reportedly directed paramedics to the fishing lake, and drone footage revealed at least four tents and camping chairs near the fishing platforms. The area, known for its natural beauty, is a popular spot for cyclists and anglers. District councillor Robert Duncan expressed his sadness over the tragedy in a Facebook post, calling the baby's death "deeply upsetting." He urged the public to avoid speculation and to respect the privacy of the family and emergency responders during this difficult time. The Wyrley and Essington Canal, often referred to as the Curly Wyrley due to its winding path, is a well-known destination for outdoor enthusiasts. As the investigation continues, authorities are asking the public for any information that might help clarify the circumstances of the incident.
