Historic restaurant reopens in Paris

Lucas Carton, a historic gastronomic restaurant in Paris's 8th arrondissement, has reopened its doors on September 25, with Cyril Lignac leading the kitchens. The restaurant, which was established in 1860 under the name "La Taverne de France," became an essential Parisian address for high society.

Restoration of original design

Twenty years later, it was renamed "Lucas," and its interior was redesigned by designer Majorelle, who installed different wood paneling in an Art Deco style. The historic decor, including banquettes and bronze sconces, has been preserved over the years, giving the place a muted atmosphere.

Modern touches with historical respect

The entire space has been subtly revisited by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, while respecting the spirit of the place. The ground floor is the heart of the restaurant, while the upper floor houses four intimate salons decorated in the same cozy and enveloping spirit.

New ownership and management

Lucas Carton has joined the portfolio of Lapérouse Holding, the group founded by Benjamin Patou and Antoine Arnault, which already manages several Parisian addresses, including Lapérouse, Le Relais Louis XIII, Da Rosa, and Lafayette’s. Cyril Lignac had submitted his CV to the restaurant's kitchens exactly 25 years ago.

Culinary offerings and menu highlights

In 2026, he was called back, but this time to take charge as chef. The menu features a generous French cuisine that revisits the great classics, including mushroom tart from Paris, Burgundy snails, or lobster salad as an appetizer; line-caught cod confit, yellow wine, girolles and hazelnuts, or Noirmoutier sea bass with champagne sauce on the seafood side; not forgetting the poultry, supreme sauce and morels, and the signature Lucas Carton burger for the most solid appetites.

Desserts and location details

Cyril Lignac also focuses on desserts with a fine apple tart and vanilla ice cream, a baba with old rum, or a delicious praline hazelnut chocolate mousse. The restaurant is located at 9 place de la Madeleine in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
