Star Wars Galactic Racer, an upcoming arcade-style racing game set in the Star Wars universe, is now available for pre-order on Amazon at a reduced price of 44.99 euros, compared to the standard 59.99 euros. The game is set to launch on October 6, 2026, and is positioned as a spiritual successor to the 1999 Nintendo 64 game Star Wars: Episode I – Racer, which was inspired by the film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. This new title will use Unreal Engine 5, a powerful game development tool known for its high-quality graphics, and will feature a roguelike campaign set in the post-Imperial era, where the New Republic is working to rebuild its forces. The game will include a variety of vehicle categories, each with unique handling and performance characteristics, offering players a range of racing experiences. While it will not include an open-world structure, it will use a roguelike framework with a map of events to choose from, collectibles to unlock, and upgrades to enhance progression. Tracks will be set on iconic locations from the Star Wars universe, such as Jakku, Ando Prime, Lantaana, Sentinel One, and Tatooine, each featuring distinct environmental conditions that can affect gameplay, such as sandstorms or rain. Multiplayer mode will support up to 12 players, allowing for competitive racing between friends or strangers. However, it remains unclear whether the game will include in-race repair mechanics, a feature present in the original Nintendo 64 version, which required players to temporarily release control of their vehicle. The game is expected to leverage the PS5’s DualSense haptic controller, potentially providing immersive feedback such as synchronized vibrations with the vehicle’s engine or adaptive trigger resistance during acceleration. Star Wars Galactic Racer will be available exclusively on the PlayStation 5. While it continues the legacy of the original Star Wars: Episode I – Racer, it introduces modern gameplay mechanics and features, aiming to appeal to both longtime fans of the franchise and new players looking for a high-speed, story-driven racing experience.
