A woman was found on Sunday, September 20, in the attic of a house in the Boston area of the United States. The house contained multiple residences, and the woman was discovered by the property owners while investigating a water leak. According to an article published by NBC News on Monday, the woman was found naked, malnourished, and lying on a thin mattress. She had been held in the attic for about six weeks. One of the occupants, Jordande Pierre, is now facing charges including kidnapping, sexual servitude trafficking, and indecent assault. According to the charges, Pierre met the woman on a dating app and then took her to the house. She was allegedly drugged, assaulted, and raped. Assistant prosecutor for Middlesex County, Jacob McCrindle, described the conditions in which she was found during a court appearance. "She had clearly not eaten. She was dirty. She lived, essentially, in unsanitary conditions in this attic," NBC News reported. A bucket containing urine was also found nearby. The charges state that Pierre prevented the victim from leaving by removing the handle of the attic door. "The accused removed this handle so that she could not leave," McCrindle said. He is also accused of arranging encounters between the woman and other men and of raping her more than once. The woman was discovered by the house owners, who had gone to the location to investigate a water leak. While inspecting the building, they wanted to access the attic despite the reluctance of an occupant. Once inside, they saw the woman lying on a thin mattress in a corner, before leaving the premises and immediately alerting the police. Jordande Pierre was arrested a few days after the victim's discovery during an operation involving local police, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshals. He remains in custody pending a hearing scheduled for October 6. According to NBC News, the police have not ruled out additional arrests in this investigation.
