Li Auto enters European market

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Li Auto has announced its entry into the European market during the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Its first model, the Li 6, an electric SUV nearly 5 meters long, is expected to be available for sale starting in early 2027.

First model adapted for European drivers

The Li 6, already sold in China under the name Li i6, is expected to be adapted to European requirements, particularly in terms of driving behavior and embedded software. Technically, the Li 6 is based on an 800 V architecture and features a 5C charging technology, which allows for theoretically recharging a battery at a power equivalent to five times its capacity in one hour.

Technology-focused interior

The interior of the Li 6 highlights technology, with Li Auto announcing an interface available in eight European languages, navigation adapted to different markets, Apple CarPlay, and Spotify. The manufacturer also plans to provide major software updates every quarter.

First deliveries in Netherlands and Norway

The first deliveries of the Li 6 are expected during the first quarter of 2027, but not in France. Li Auto will start with the Netherlands and Norway, two markets particularly favorable to electric vehicles. The manufacturer plans to gradually expand its presence to other European countries in a second phase, without providing a specific schedule for France.

Future plans include new models and EREV

Additionally, Li Auto does not intend to stop at a single model. It plans to launch at least one new model per year in Europe between 2027 and 2029. Surprisingly, its lineup will not be exclusively composed of 100% electric vehicles. Li Auto also wants to offer extended-range electric vehicles (EREV), a strategy that could allow it to reach a broader audience.
