Miyazaki manga releases in France

The manga Daydream Notes by Hayao Miyazaki will be released in France on November 26, priced at 24.95€, according to publishers Delcourt/Tonkam. The release date aligns with the end-of-year holiday season, which is a common time for book launches in many countries.

Origins of the manga

Originally titled Miyazaki Hayao no Zassō Nōto, the work was first published in Japan in 1992 by Dai Nippon Kaiga. A revised and enriched edition was released in 1997, reflecting the evolving nature of the material over time.

Content of the publication

The book compiles nearly all of the short manga, illustrations, and sketches created by Hayao Miyazaki during the 1980s and 1990s for various magazines. It includes Hikōtei jidai, a short story centered on seaplanes that later inspired the animated film Porco Rosso.

Publisher's description

The publisher describes the book as a beautiful collection featuring manga, illustrations, texts by Hayao Miyazaki, and other exclusive content. It is the first volume of a four-volume series, bringing together manga, illustrations, and writings originally published in the monthly magazine Model Graphics.

Additional features of the volume

The first volume includes 116 pages of manga, featuring the original story that inspired Porco Rosso, the animated film released in France in 1992. It also includes a fictional story set in Europe between 1862 and 1945 with anthropomorphic animal characters.
