Lufthansa to receive first A350-1000 in Munich

Lufthansa is preparing to receive its first Airbus A350-1000, which is scheduled to arrive in Munich by mid-November. The aircraft, named "Deutschland" and registered D-AIFA, will undergo final preparations before entering service on December 3 on the Munich–Tokyо (Haneda) route.

A350-1000 will have special configuration

The A350-1000, which is 73.80 meters in length, will be equipped with the new Allegris cabin in a 300-seat configuration. The aircraft will accommodate 300 passengers in a four-class configuration: three to four in first class, 49 in business class (which includes eight suites), 35 in premium economy and 212 in economy class.

Lufthansa orders fifteen A350-1000 units

Lufthansa has ordered fifteen units of the aircraft, which will be delivered by 2030. The first ten will be destined for the Lufthansa fleet and based in Munich. The aircraft is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines and is expected to reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by 25% compared to previous generation aircraft.

A350-1000 completes first test flight

The aircraft has already begun its flight tests. Its first takeoff took place on October 5 in Toulouse, under the test registration F-WZNY, for a flight of about three hours and thirty-five minutes. This stage should be distinguished from the transport to Munich and from the planned commercial service in December.

Centenary livery for A350-1000

The A350-1000 will be the seventh aircraft to receive the centenary livery, which combines a blue fuselage, a very large white crane, and the inscriptions "1926 | 2026" and "100." The company had previously noted that an official naming ceremony would be organized later.

Deployment schedule for A350-1000

Lufthansa specifies the deployment schedule of its largest A350. Still at Airbus in Toulouse, the first unit is to be transported to Munich by mid-November. After the final preparations carried out by the company, it will welcome its first passengers on December 3 on the route to Tokyo-Haneda. Shanghai and Singapore will follow in the following weeks. The company however plans an alternating operation with A350-900s, also equipped with the Allegris cabin: this announcement therefore does not mean that every departure on these three routes will be operated by an A350-1000. Lufthansa does not yet specify the dates of its first rotations to the two other Asian metropolises.
