Festival at Vincennes Castle

The Vincennes Castle in Val-de-Marne is hosting the "Nuits de Lumière" festival, an immersive nighttime experience running from Thursday, October 15 to Sunday, November 8. This event transforms the medieval monument into a sensory tour using light plays, "monumental projections," and digital technologies.

Visitor experience

Visitors can explore different parts of the castle at their own pace. The festival, initiated by the city of Vincennes, features works by internationally recognized artists and studios from the light arts scene.

Featured installation

One of the first works presented is "Run Beyond," which includes a human silhouette running and jumping in a loop on the castle walls, symbolizing self-overcoming. Each projection visit lasts approximately one and a half hours, with sessions from Thursday to Sunday and departures every 30 minutes.

Ticket prices and accessibility

The full price is 18 euros, with free entry for children under 6 years old. The festival aims to create a dialogue between history and modernity through light projections that echo different historical episodes and references.

Historical performances

One performance, "Le Grand Mix," brings back historical figures of the castle, who perform a dozen popular songs through digital effects and light projections. During the 16 days of the festival, 15 international artists present 14 light installations.

Artistic collaboration

The voice of actress Emmanuelle Devos accompanies the projections of images and videos. Performances and projections are offered on the keep and the Sainte-Chapelle, two emblematic sites of the castle. More information and ticketing details are available on the event's website.
