Mafia III has returned on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with improved native versions. The game, which is not well-liked within the series, is still appreciated by a part of the community, who may want to replay it under better conditions. 2K Games and Hangar 13 have recognized this and are offering a free update to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this criticized title.
The PC version is also being updated with a significant patch that will make the experience more enjoyable. The complete patch notes can be found on the official website of the franchise.
The updated versions on PS5 and Xbox Series include some improvements, notably a frame rate capped at 60 frames per second, outside of some cinematics which remain limited to 30 FPS. There are also adjustments to trophies/achievements, as well as changes to some missions to prevent bugs that were previously very annoying for progression, including making the AI of NPCs more refined than before. The game also features a more attractive visual package, with better lighting, finer textures, and more refined vegetation.
The update is free for those who already own the game on PS4 and Xbox One, whether they own the game alone or through the compilation Mafia: La Collection Omertà. For recall, Mafia III: Definitive Edition also includes all the DLCs of the game, making these ports the best versions of the game to enjoy the third episode under good conditions.
