Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 and its child-friendly features

The Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 is a standard tablet not ideal for children on its own, but the included accessories are tailored for them. The package features a preinstalled bekids coloring app with a month of VIP access, a durable case, and a stylus designed for children's hands, making it useful for long trips or developing motor skills.

Price reduction during Black Friday

Fnac and Darty are offering a discount of 121.01 euros on the tablet, bringing the price down to 109.99 euros, with an additional 30 euro ODR for further savings. Before the Black Friday promotion, the pack was priced at 359.99 euros, which was higher than the 231 euros listed on Xiaomi's official website.

Display features of the Redmi Pad 2 Play

The Redmi Pad 2 Play includes an 11-inch LCD IPS panel with a 16:10 format and 2.5K resolution (2560 x 1600 pixels). The AG nanotexture processing reduces light glare and gives the screen a paper-like feel under the stylus, while a 90 Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and app usage.

Design and physical characteristics

The tablet has a 370 nits brightness level, which limits its usability in direct sunlight but is still suitable for family use. It comes with a blue case that protects a monocoque metal chassis, measuring 7.36 mm in thickness and weighing 510 g without the case.

Internal components and performance

Under the screen, Xiaomi uses a Helio G100-Ultra chip with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, expandable up to 2 TB with a microSD card. This setup is adequate for light, family use and multimedia but may struggle with heavy 3D applications. The device runs HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15, offering multitasking features like split screen and floating windows.

Battery and audio capabilities

The tablet is equipped with a 9,000 mAh battery, ensuring several days of use without recharging. It also features four Dolby Atmos-compatible speakers, delivering a convincing stereo sound experience.

Comparison with similar models

The Redmi Pad 2 Play competes directly with the Lenovo Tab Plus and Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus. It stands out with its 2.5K screen, matte finish, and more advanced HyperOS interface. It offers a moderate upgrade in performance compared to the first Redmi Pad model and is a more cost-effective option for children when purchased as a pack.

Test score and market context

The tablet received a score of 7/10 in a full test. A comparative buying guide on affordable tablets is also available, highlighting models with excellent value. Black Friday 2026 has expanded into a full month of promotions, sometimes called Black Month, with early deals already appearing on platforms like AliExpress. This makes it a good time for end-of-year tech purchases, with resources available to find the best offers from Fnac/Darty, Boulanger, and Cdiscount.
