A ready-made pasta salad containing surimi, sold by the supermarket chain Lidl in France, has been recalled due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacterium that can cause a serious infection known as listeriosis. The affected product, branded as Toque du chef, was sold in plastic bowls and was meant to be eaten cold. The recall was announced on October 6, 2026, by RappelConso, a French organization that tracks food safety issues. It applies to the Surimi Toque du chef pasta salad with the GTIN 4052917017585 and batch number 640301, which had an expiration date of October 12, 2026. These products were sold in Lidl stores across France between October 1 and October 6, 2026. Consumers are being advised to stop eating the product, destroy it, or return it to the store where it was purchased. Listeria monocytogenes can cause symptoms such as fever, headaches, and muscle aches. In more severe cases, it may lead to neurological complications, harm to pregnant women and their fetuses, and serious health risks for people with weakened immune systems or the elderly. Anyone who has eaten the product and is experiencing symptoms is encouraged to see their general practitioner immediately and to inform them of their consumption. Refunds for the contaminated product can be requested from Lidl.
