Dubai adds high-performance SUV to police fleet

Dubai police have added the Yangwang U8, a high-performance Chinese SUV, to their fleet of luxury vehicles used for tourist and public visibility. The SUV joins other premium models like the Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and Tesla Cybertruck.

Yangwang U8 features advanced electric technology

The Yangwang U8, introduced in October 2026, is built on an electric architecture with four motors, one for each wheel, allowing for precise control and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 3.6 seconds. It is produced by Yangwang, a premium brand under the Chinese company BYD.

Vehicle combines electric and thermal power

The SUV includes a 2.0-liter thermal engine that functions as a generator, giving it an autonomy of over 1,000 km. This hybrid system ensures the vehicle can operate for extended periods without needing frequent recharging.

Yangwang U8 includes unique safety and mobility features

The Yangwang U8 has 1,197 horsepower and an emergency floating mode that allows it to stay afloat in case of flooding, though it is not intended for prolonged water navigation. It can also rotate 360 degrees on its axis, enabling a tank turn useful for maneuvering in crowded areas.

Vehicle unveiled at WETEX 2026 show

The Yangwang U8 was presented in police livery at the WETEX 2026 show in Dubai, highlighting the emirate's commitment to integrating advanced technology into its public services.
