CGT presents demands to the prefect

The CGT union in Doubs presented its demands to the prefect during a meeting, emphasizing issues related to social justice and youth prospects, while condemning all forms of violence, including police violence.

Criticism of government's security stance

The CGT criticized the President of the Republic and the government for their "security-oriented stances," arguing that these policies fail to address the legitimate demands of the population.

Opposition to Parcoursup and education conditions

The union expressed strong opposition to Parcoursup, a platform used for higher education admissions, which it views as promoting inequality. It also highlighted poor conditions in schools, including unsanitary environments, inadequate heating, and insufficient resources.

Focus on cost of living and social inequalities

The CGT raised concerns about the rising cost of living, housing challenges, mobility issues, healthcare access, and increasing social inequalities, which it says are worsening the situation for many citizens.

Criticism of defense and corporate subsidies

The union condemned the allocation of 413 billion euros to defense and armaments from 2024 to 2030, as well as public subsidies to companies exceeding 200 billion euros annually without any clear benefits to the public.

Demands for wage increases and social reforms

The CGT called for urgent measures, including raising the minimum wage, public sector index points, pensions, and social minimums, and for wages and social benefits to be indexed to inflation, along with achieving wage equality between men and women.

Upcoming union mobilization

A day of union mobilization is expected to take place on November 5, 2026, as part of the CGT's efforts to push for its demands.
