Lisons libres! will take place from September 18 to 20, 2026, at the Espace des Blancs Manteaux in Paris. This event will bring together about 100 independent publishing houses, including L'Antilope, Anamosa, the editions du Sonneur, Chandeigne & Lima, Aux forges de Vulcain, Talents hauts, Editions des femmes, and La Volte. In addition to book displays, the fair will feature author meetings, book dedications, artists' works, children’s workshops, and discussions centered around the theme of publishing independence. This is the second edition of the fair, and it is supported by the association of independent publishing in Île-de-France, a group formed in 2023 with 100 members. The association aims to unite independent publishers in the region, defend their interests, represent their diversity, and promote the freedom to publish. The godmother of this second edition is Laurine Roux, who won the Prix des Libraires 2026 for her novel Trois fois la colère, published by Editions du Sonneur. Several notable publishers will be present, including Laurence Faron from Talents hauts editions and Serge Ewenczyk from Çà et là editions. These individuals and many others will contribute to the discussions and events planned for the fair. The event is part of a growing movement to support and celebrate independent publishing, which plays a vital role in the literary world by offering diverse voices and perspectives. Lisons libres! is not only a platform for publishers but also an opportunity for readers to engage directly with authors and explore new works. The fair will include a range of activities designed to appeal to both adults and children, making it a family-friendly event. It reflects the increasing importance of independent publishing in a media landscape dominated by larger corporations. By gathering publishers, authors, and readers in one place, the fair fosters a sense of community and shared purpose among those who value the independence of the publishing industry. The event will be held at the Espace des Blancs Manteaux, located at 48 rue Vieille-du-Temple, 75004 Paris. Visitors can expect a dynamic and interactive experience that highlights the creativity and diversity of independent publishing. With its focus on freedom of expression and the support of local organizations, Lisons libres! aims to become a significant event in the Parisian cultural calendar.
