Richard Rawlings sells part of his car collection

Richard Rawlings, owner of Gas Monkey Garage, is auctioning a large portion of his personal car collection online. The sale includes muscle cars, pickup trucks, microcars, and other vehicles, with most items available without reserve prices.

Auction dates and platform

The auction runs from October 22 to October 29, 2026, on the American platform Bring a Trailer. Around 25 cars from the Gas Monkey Garage are included, with some of the most notable vehicles already listed in the catalog.

Rumors of bankruptcy addressed

Rawlings is responding to rumors of bankruptcy circulating on social media. He criticized those spreading the rumors, stating they likely believe he went to prison. He clarified that the sale is part of his usual collection rotation, not a sign of financial trouble.

Previous sales and financial goals

This is not the first time Rawlings has sold part of his collection. In 2022, he sold 23 cars and 2 motorcycles, earning between $800,000 and $900,000. His goal is to free up space and funds to acquire high-value cars like a Lamborghini Miura or a Ferrari Monza SP2.

Unique vehicles in the auction

Among the items is a 1963 Chevy Impala with engravings and a custom sound system. Other notable vehicles include a 1974 Volkswagen Thing with a unique paint job and a 1957 BMW Isetta microcar purchased after his wife's spontaneous decision.

Mustang and Corvette highlights

A 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe with just 1,036 miles and original features is described as one of the coolest cars in the collection. A 1987 Chevrolet Corvette with a similarly low mileage and removable roof is also a standout. For pickup enthusiasts, a fully restored 1979 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT is included.
