Google has rolled out a new feature called "Quick notes" within its Google Meet video conferencing app. This feature uses Gemini AI, Google's large language model, to automatically generate meeting summaries. After a meeting ends, the AI compiles key points and potential tasks into a single-page summary, which is saved in a Google Docs document. The full set of notes is also available in a separate tab for more detailed review.
The summary can be automatically emailed to all meeting participants once the session concludes, helping ensure everyone stays informed about the discussion and any follow-up actions. This feature is currently available to users with specific Google Workspace subscriptions, including Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Frontline Plus, as well as individuals who have a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
The feature became available on September 22, and additional settings to control AI note-taking will be introduced on September 29. These settings will allow companies to set rules, such as restricting automatic note-taking to meetings with at least three participants. This update aims to provide more control and privacy options for users and organizations using the feature.
Overall, the introduction of Quick notes represents a step forward in integrating AI into everyday business tools, aiming to streamline communication and improve productivity.
