Leak claims major One UI 10 changes

Ice Universe, a leaker known for reliable Samsung-related information, reported on October 17 that an "independent source" confirmed One UI 10 will bring "unprecedented" changes. The same day, Nokia Power User stated it had received similar information from a Samsung software team contact.

One UI 10 would mark a new era

If true, the interface used by Galaxy users since 2018 would undergo significant changes, though no screenshots have been shared yet. On Weibo, Ice Universe added that Samsung's entire software team is working on the project, with One UI 9.5 being "the last generation of traditional interface."

Galaxy Z Fold 9 to get One UI 10

The Galaxy Z Fold 9 would be the first device to receive One UI 10. SamMobile reported that the Z Flip 9 would also receive One UI 10, based on Android 18, with a release expected in mid-2027. This would mean the Galaxy S27 Ultra, anticipated in early 2027, would launch with the classic One UI interface.

New design philosophy for One UI 10

The contact from Nokia Power User described a philosophical shift in Samsung's approach. One UI 10 would integrate calendar, location, and messages into a single location, eliminate hidden menus and unnecessary taps, and simplify transitions between smartphone, tablet, and watch.

AI integration with a paid tier

For AI, the source outlined a two-tier model where daily functions would remain free, while tools requiring heavy computation and third-party app integrations could become paid through subscription. Samsung has already introduced a paid AI model, as seen with the Galaxy S24 launch in January 2024.

Predictable updates and competition

According to GSMArena, One UI updates have become increasingly predictable, with minor visual changes and gradual AI integration. The latest version, One UI 9, arrived in France on the Galaxy S26 in September. Samsung is already testing the next update, and early images of One UI 9.5 have circulated.

Competitors drive major redesigns

A radical change is seen as necessary for One UI to keep up with competitors like Apple and Google, who have redesigned their interfaces. Apple introduced Liquid Glass with iOS 26 in June 2025, calling it "the most extensive" design overhaul to date, the most visible since iOS 7 in 2013. Google followed with Material 3 Expressive on the Pixel in September 2025.

Potential name change and update plans

Leaker Phonefuturist mentioned a potential name change for One UI to "Galaxy OS," with a launch linked to the Galaxy S28. Samsung promises seven years of Android updates from the Galaxy S24, which covers One UI 10 extensively. The Galaxy S23, however, is part of the 28 models that can upgrade to One UI 9, with its fourth and last major update planned. Unless there is a policy change, it will not receive One UI 10.
