Dubai South and Phoenix Aviation are building a new aircraft maintenance facility near Dubai International Airport, set to open in 2029.
Dubai South partners with Phoenix Aviation
Dubai South has signed an agreement with Phoenix Aviation to develop a new facility at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) in Dubai, adjacent to the Dubai International Airport (DWC). The partnership aims to enhance the region’s aerospace infrastructure and support the growing aviation industry.Facility focuses on aircraft maintenance
The new complex will specialize in the maintenance of wide-body aircraft, which are larger planes commonly used by major airlines for long-haul flights. This includes repairs, upgrades, and ensuring the planes meet safety and performance standards.Additional services at the facility
In addition to maintenance, the facility will handle modifications to aircraft, such as updating systems or adding new features. It will also provide cabin furnishings, which involve outfitting the interior of planes with seats, entertainment systems, and other passenger amenities.Cargo conversion capabilities
The facility will also convert passenger aircraft into cargo planes, a process that involves removing seats and other passenger equipment and installing cargo containers and loading systems. This service is in demand as airlines and logistics companies seek to optimize their fleets for freight transport.Completion expected in early 2029
The new complex is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2029, aligning with Dubai’s broader goals to establish itself as a global hub for aerospace and aviation services.
