The International team took a commanding 7-3 lead over the United States in the Presidents Cup after a strong performance in the foursomes matches on day two at Medinah Country Club. The U.S. had led 3-2 after the fourballs on Thursday, but they struggled in the alternate-shot format on Friday, losing all five of their matches. This loss gave the International team a significant boost in their quest for their first Presidents Cup victory since 1998 and only their second win in the event's history, which began in 1994. Geoff Ogilvy's International team started the day strong, with Sungjae Im and Hideki Matsuyama defeating Russell Henley and Jacob Bridgeman 3&2. The Canadian pair of Corey Conners and Nick Taylor also secured a narrow one-hole victory over world number one Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns. Burns nearly secured a half point when his 20-foot putt at the final hole "lipped out," meaning the ball kissed the edge of the hole but did not fall in. In another match, Open champion Ryan Fox and Min Woo Lee edged Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark by one hole. Later, Adam Scott and Christiaan Bezuidenhout defeated Justin Thomas and Cameron Young 3&2. The day concluded with a strong performance from Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim, who wrapped up the session with a 4&3 victory over Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele. The competition will continue on Saturday with four more foursomes matches and four additional fourballs. The final stage of the Presidents Cup will take place on Sunday, with 12 singles matches scheduled to determine the overall winner.
