Veloe, an Italian company known for making high-end electric cargo bikes with powerful Bosch motors, has launched a more budget-friendly version of its popular Multi models. These new bikes, called the Espresso editions, became available in mid-September 2026. Customers can order them through Veloe’s online configurator or through its network of European retailers. The Espresso models use a Shimano EP5 motor, which is less expensive than the Bosch Cargo Line found in the original Multi models. While the Shimano motor provides 60 Nm of torque—enough for flat areas—it is less powerful than the 85 to 120 Nm offered by Bosch motors.
The Veloe Multi Espresso models are built with the same frame as the original Multi models, which are still made in Italy. They come in two sizes: the midtail version with 24-inch wheels, ideal for carrying 1 to 2 children, and the longtail Multi Lungo with a 20-inch rear wheel, suitable for 2 to 3 children. Both models are equipped with a Shimano Nexus 5-speed hub transmission, which can be set up with a traditional chain, a belt, or an electronic Di2 system. The Espresso editions use a slightly smaller 504 Wh battery compared to the 545 Wh battery in the Bosch-powered versions.
The base price for the Veloe Multi Espresso models starts at 3,299 euros, significantly lower than the 4,499 euros for the Bosch-powered models. This price applies to both the short and long versions of the bike. Five color options are available, and additional accessories such as the Family Pack (footrests, bars, and seat) for 290 euros, a loading space for 199 euros, or a front rack for 85 euros must be purchased separately.
With this new price range, Veloe aims to compete with other brands that specialize in midtail and longtail electric cargo bikes, such as the French companies Gaya and Jean Fourche. The Espresso editions offer a more accessible option for families and individuals looking for a reliable, high-quality electric cargo bike without the higher cost of the original Multi models.
